Because all I'm doing is reading webcomics when I need to be reading an actual book-- oh, hello, blog post idea; I didn't see you there. I guess it's time for some webcomic reviews after the jump!
The Non-Adventures of Wonderella
Along with a cast of characters including Doctor Shark, Hitlerella, The Vaguely Greco-Romanic Godhead, and Mom, the titular character mocks various aspects of modern life and pop culture in this delightfully snarky webcomic. The simple, colorful, retro style reminiscent of classic comics is deceivingly innocent until it's used to depict a pterodactyl having its head sliced off by a thrown robot head, said robot admittedly having deserved its fate due to a rather sexist remark. This is one of my favorite webcomics due to its clever blend of safe- and not-safe-for-work humor that has kept me reading for a long time.
The Meek
The first thing most people notice about this comic is the spectacular art. Everything is just as lovingly detailed as a standalone painting and the drawing style vaguely reminds me of old Disney movies, specifically Tarzan in the first chapter, a page of which is shown above. The first chapter does contain full-frontal nudity, but believe me, it's all for art's sake. The nude character doesn't seem to mind either, so don't feel bad.
Driving the art is an amazing story. The characters are wonderfully endearing and fun to watch, and they all live in a detailed world with just a hint of fantasy for flavor. I won't give you any hints about the story; just see it yourself and you'll love it.
